Before we go on our journey

An Epilogue

Georgia woke up and turned. Her eyes fluttered open. And there he stood… Her love… Her world… Her John…

She squealed, and jumped out of the bed, and hugged him tight.

She looked up at him and saw him smiling at her. He patted her head with one hand, held her tight with the other and kissed her forehead. It had been so long since he last held her… he had missed her…

She was in seventh heaven. She felt happy and light. The world suddenly felt rosy again.

He felt like he had gone a long time ago. It had only being a month. He had promised her that he would be back. And he was back finally as… Her love… Her world… Her John…

They come out of the house into the courtyard talking, holding hands. Their relatives had all come. The function was today. Not wanting to be in anybody’s path, they chose a peaceful corner in the courtyard.

She kept recounting all the days he wasn’t there. And how much, she missed him. She kept talking of the days, the friends, the adventures… the list just never ended…

He loved to hear her voice again… and hold her and feel her next to him. Though it was only a month, it definitely felt long.

Finally, after a life time of share, she was resting her head on his shoulder. John looked at her… she lifted her head and looked at those eyes she was always in love with. She knew the look in those eyes.

Before one month, when they spoke, they had mostly spoken in monosyllables and they always somehow understood the rest of the sentences. Their friends and relatives used to get exasperated, due to the incomplete conversations, that was always complete between these two.

But this time, their connect was on a whole different level altogether. They connected just by being next to each other.

She nodded at him, without breaking the lock of their eyes.

She told him how much she loved him through those very same eyes and he understood too. Their bond was complete…

They rose together. Hand in hand, she leaning her head on his shoulder, together they started their walk along the path that led out of the courtyard, into the driveway and out of the compound. Their trip had started…

Back inside the house…

Mark with his wife, stood by his mom looking at her, peaceful as she was with his father’s photo in her hands. They were always the best couple he had known. With so full of love and unspoken understanding.

After his father John, had gone, she just couldn’t handle his absence and heartbroken, she didn’t last for more than a month…

He bent down and whispered, “Thank you for showing us how to love. Always loved you mom. Have a safe journey. Take care and see you soon…”

Would be a great encouragement, if you could like & follow.
