I trudged up the stairs, a tired man. The lift had not worked again and climbing 8 stories wasn’t a small matter anymore.

I stood in front of the apartment door. No 804 was pasted on the door. Before I could touch the knob, the wind pushed the door ajar. She had as usual left the door open for me to come in since it had automatic locking. She always hated the doorbell… I came in and Rehana closed the door behind me. I sat down at the dining table next to Rehana. She looked at me, and there was love in them. I felt so good, looking at her and knowing this woman was mine and I was hers in our small world. My love. We always had this game of sorts. So as usual I started. I sat there just staring at her beauty as usual, as she ate waiting for her to blush up.

She smiled, as her cheeks blushed and she said as usual, yet again, “Don’t stare at me.”

But… wait… she wasn’t smiling. Tears had formed rivulets on her face !

I followed the trail her eyes made and saw my photo put up next to my mom. I  turned and looked at the shelf mirror that reflected us and she was eating alone…

Would be a great encouragement, if you could like & follow.
